DIY Project Guide: Update or Repair Awnings, Tents, and More with LetterBank GripAwn Fabric
Want to give new life to your awning, cover up an old business name, or patch a tear in your tent or sail? This simple DIY guide shows you how to use LetterBank GripAwn self-adhesive fabric to save money and refresh your existing materials.
🛠 What You Can Do with GripAwn
- Cover up old awning lettering (painted or printed)
- Add your own business name or logo
- Patch small rips and tears in awnings, tents, sails, or canopies
- Mark tents and canopies with logos, labels, or color blocks
- Create team numbers or logos for jackets and uniforms

💡 Why Use GripAwn?
Replacing an awning or tent can cost hundreds of dollars. With GripAwn, you can cover or repair existing fabric for a fraction of the cost. This fabric is tough, weather-tested, and easy to apply—perfect for DIYers, businesses, and sports teams.
✅ Before You Begin: Will GripAwn Stick to Your Fabric?
GripAwn sticks securely to most fabrics except those treated with silicone. Here’s a quick way to test:
- Try sticking a label or bumper sticker to the fabric.
- If it peels right off, the surface might be silicone-treated.
- Still unsure? Request a sample of GripAwn to test before buying (the material is custom-cut and not returnable).
🧵 What Is GripAwn?

GripAwn is a durable, woven fabric with a super-strong acrylic adhesive on the back (covered by a liner until you’re ready to apply). It’s been tested across North America—even in hurricane-force winds—with zero failures.
Available colors: Black, red, blue, green, and white
Sizes: 54” wide (sold by the yard), and 14” or 18” wide rolls (white only)
